I am an activist or a non-profit organisation - can I use the artworks in my work?
Yes! And that would be great. This is exactly why we created The Greats. Just remember to always credit the artist in the way it is indicated in the artwork’s profile and in the Read Me file attached to the download.
You can also use the work file in the downloadable folder to edit and transform the artwork according to your needs. This means you can translate the copy in your language, or change it entirely. You could also alter skin or hair colour, garments, and more, to make it work in your local context. But again - you must credit the author, and fully comply with the requirements of the license, no matter if you used it to create new material or adapt the current one.
Can I print an artwork I downloaded from The Greats?
Yes, you can. As long as you don’t sell it or use it for commercial purposes, you are free to download and print all artworks.
Can I sell merchandise with artwork from The Greats printed on it?
No. Artworks published on TheGreats.co cannot be used for commercial purposes no matter if you are a non-profit organisation, a company or an individual.
You cannot sell anything with an artwork from this website, and cannot use an artwork as a visual to lead people to your fundraiser or charity drive.
Are the artists paid?
Most of the content you see on The Greats is commissioned by us, through one of our creative challenges.
On top of that, many artists have decided to open up one (and often – more) of their existing works, to support the work of activists worldwide.
In each new challenge, we always commission a chunk of people who have previously contributed work through one of our open calls.
We strongly encourage you to also use our website as a guide to which amazing artist you are going to commission for your next project. Nonprofits need creatives who care, and The Greats artists have again and again shown the vastness of their hearts.
Furthermore, if you decide to support our work, this will help us commission more and more artists for awesome content you’ll get to use and love.
What is this “Download Files” button in every artwork?
All artworks published on The Greats come with a pack of materials which make the use of the artwork easier. Like social media files, poster files, etc., but most importantly - a work file.
Can I use The Greats logo?
